As someone mentioned it does take a bit of force to get the cuts started, but then it goes very smoothly. I first mounted it on piece of Oak I had laying around, but my wife still found it difficult to use with big potatoes. I put a hook on the wall in the garage and hung it up and now it is very easy to use as you can use your weight to pull down the lever. I think this is how they are set up in restaurants and if you have the wall space I highly recommend this set up. I would not even mess around with the suction cup feet. You can buy a nice piece of wood for the same price and just screw it down.
